Data Destruction
Destroying data (data destruction, wiping, or erasure), is not the same as destroying the media on which data is stored (physical destruction).
Physical destruction is the process of rendering a device completely unusable. Physical destruction can involve shredding hard drives, smartphones, printers, laptops and other storage media into tiny pieces by large mechanical shredders. It can also involve the process of rearranging the magnetic fields on hard disk drives (HDDs) using degaussers.
Data Backup
With the advent of cloud back-ups services nowadays, there is little call for full backups of PC’s or servers as the data is more often than not stored offsite. However, from time to time we are asked to create back-ups of individual machines or folders from a physical server before the hard drives are destroyed or erased for repurposing.
This can be a very efficient way of ensuring those important email accounts, archived photos or documents are maintained prior to the end of life for your storage device.
Onsite Audit
Before we carry out any data cleansing or destruction operation, we are very happy to visit you to audit what you have in place. This will ensure the solution we provide is the most appropriate and the most cost effective way to remove, destroy or back up your data.
Where possible we will usually endeavour to repurpose any IT equipment to try and reduce as much wastage as possible, if instructed otherwise all IT equipment and HDD’s we do destroy will be rendered totally unusable.
