2021 Roundup

This year at Function28 has been the busiest and most exciting yet. We’ve been working our socks off producing fresh new websites, managing campaigns, and helping businesses with their social media. We’ve worked on so many fantastic projects that we want to share just some of them with you!

Red Ruby Cattle

The good people from the Devon Cattle Breeders’ Society came to us after finding out we built and managed Mid Devon Show’s website and provided them with tech support. Devon Cattle Breeders’ Society had been let down by another agency that started the project of designing and developing a new website, but left them with a product that was unfinished and not fit for purpose. We took on this project and delivered a new website with a fresh, modern look, we also made sure it was fully responsive on mobile devices too. With hundreds of members on their books, they wanted to make the site easy to navigate and attract new members.

As part of the package that they have with us, we’re also hosting their site as well as setting up their new emails too.

Fentrigan Manor Farm

We worked closely with Richard to help promote his beautiful holiday cottages on his working farm in Cornwall. We redesigned and developed the website to make it easier to navigate, respond on mobile devices and we’re also hosting the site along with his emails too.

The team really enjoyed working on this project and it’s always a joy to see new pictures of Richard’s dog, Oscar pop up every now and again!

Somerset County Council

A few key projects that we were part of earlier this year were the Somerset County Council campaign’s to fight knife crime and domestic abuse.

We created and managed major ad campaigns across all social media platforms, collaborated with local companies to make videos for YouTube, and we completed several PPC campaigns on Google. Our team provided clear and precise reporting back to the Council to show how successful these were across the board. We had a great response back from our contact at the Council and we’re very much looking forward to working with them on their new campaign in 2022 (keep an eye on our Blog area for more info!).

Cully Pet Shop

Earlier this year, we helped Cully Pet Shop as they made the transition to an online shop. They wanted a modern take on their business so we updated their logo design, website to match, and an online shop with a simple paw design.  We also provided some printed posters, business cards, and vehicle graphics which we think look pawsome! (Sorry, not sorry!)

With Cully Pet Shop being a small local company, it was very important for us to walk them through the process from start to finish.

Other projects we’ve completed, take a look!

NEW WEBSITE LAUNCH FOR CAR CHARGING MANUFACTURER!

BRAND NEW WEBSITE LAUNCHED FOR ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING COMPANY FLOWE.

A BLOG POST THAT WILL GET YOUR GREEN JUICES FLOWE-ING…

Innovative Norwegian company 'Easee' hitting the UK market with 'Flowe' - www.flowe.uk.com

Everyone at Function28 has been buzzing about the latest website project we had on our hands. We have now finally had the go ahead to release one of our best website projects to date.

The company that came to us looking for a modern, slick website, was called Flowe, the UK distributer of Scandinavian company Easee. We love getting our teeth into anything green and eco friendly, especially if it can be mildly linked to cars!

Now, these Norwegian giants in the electric car charging world have over 25 years experience in the UK parking market. They have launched a new generation system to the UK, offering fast, efficient and affordable charging, which makes all you electric car users’ lives that little bit Easee-er.

With over 240,000 plug cars now driven in UK, it’s a market with so much potential and forever growing, year on year, with many of us brits using electric cars in our day to day lives.

How may this affect me? You might ask. Well, the big plan is to ban sales on all petrol and diesel cars by 2040. With this being such a tall order to approve and implement, no one knows what will happen.

But what we do know is that in Norway, 60% of new car sales are now electric. They are also not part of Europe. Let’s just say.. we could Easee-ily be seeing a lot more from Flowe in the future.

Okay enough of the puns, but if you’ve had enough of your out of date website, that doesn’t flawlessly ‘flowe’ page to page. Why not get in contact with us, we produce modern, slick websites at affordable prices.

Get Your Website up to Scratch: Tips to Organically Boost SEO

If you have a website, you need to be aware of how to improve SEO across your site to avoid falling behind your competitors on search engine results pages (SERPs). The better your SEO relative to your competitors, the higher you will rank on search engines such as Google.

1. Optimise Your Content

Search engines are ever-improving how they filter out relevant information for users, ensuring that the top results are the most valuable. There are ways you can optimise your website and content to move higher up the rankings. Google has updated its algorithm to incorporate E-A-T guidelines when ranking results. The closer your website adheres to the E-A-T guidelines, the better your chances are of ranking higher.

E-A-T, which stands for expertise, authority and trustworthiness, are each elements used to determine the quality of the website. It is important to optimise your content to share expertise about your industry. This can be done in the form of a blog or by frequently adding new information.

To build authority, it is useful to cite sources and research, helping you to remain transparent when providing information. Link building with reputable organisations is also a good way to build authority.

Trustworthiness can also be improved by creating content that has a purpose and is valuable to your audience. Share content that would be useful and interesting to them, not content that tries to fool algorithms. Another way to increase trustworthiness is to make your website safe and secure by including an SSL certificate on the site. The SSL certificate ensures that any personal and financial information is secure when using the website.

2. Ensure Your Mobile Site Is up to Scratch

Over the last couple of years, Google has placed much higher importance on the usability of mobile sites to inform webite ranking, due to an ever-growing number of people using mobile phones to research information. If you’re on your phone and want to find out information about a product or service, but the mobile website is impossible to navigate and you can’t find what you want, Google’s credibility decreases and has effectively failed to do its job. Google’s focus is to ensure that users can find the information they need quickly and efficiently, thus failing to optimise your mobile website will result in your website getting left behind in the ranking.

If your mobile site needs optimising, give us a call on 01884 308091 to find out how we can help.

3. Increase Security

Users get an alert when a website is not secure and will consequently go back to the results page and visit a website that is secure. Failing to secure your website will therefore result in higher bounce rates and lower rankings. Having poor security also puts your business’ private information at risk from hacking too. Maintaining an up-to-date SSL certificate is the best thing your business can do to increase security for you and your users, reducing bounce rates and improving rankings.
