Are you using your Facebook Business Page to its full potential?

Have you ever been on a Business Facebook profile and asked yourself – what is it that you do?! For large established brands, it may not be necessary to explain exactly what it is that they do, but for smaller local companies, it should be good practice to explain what your company does in the ‘about’ section on a business page. That way when someone comes across your page, they can easily tell what the company does and if it’s of interest to them. Another way to do this is to utilise your cover photo to promote your newest product or your latest offer as that image/video is the biggest thing that people see when they view your page. There are many other things you can do to use you Facebook Business Page to its full potential, including:

  • Don’t use Dummy Accounts as admin profiles.
  • Utilise Facebook Advertising to reach a larger audience.
  • Analyse everything on your Facebook page to see what gets results.
  • Use multimedia posts – graphics, videos, text and links.
  • Post at optimum times for your business.
  • Respond to all engagements and messages, build a relationship with your audience.
  • Have recognisable branding, from your profile picture to your thumbnail and cover photo/video.

Would this fake bill trick you? – watch out for clever spam!

Email spam cons are getting more and more sophisticated each day, and I felt the need to share this one that popped into my inbox today.

I know people who have been caught out and it is easy to do if you don’t know what to look out for.

The sender’s address was listed as BT Business and the subject titled Latest BT Bill.

The graphics in the email look legitimate, the branding is as one would expect for a bill or invoice (for this type of styling)

It even contains Real links to BT’s website…here is the catch.

The ‘See your bill here’ link takes you off to some 3rd party spam company website, where it’s possible they could infect your machine or even worse obtain your payment details!

3 tips when seeing suspect emails

  • 2nd guess yourselves on if you have an account with the company emailing you
  • Hover over the links and make sure they go to the corresponding company’s websites.
  • If you still are unsure go to the company’s website direct and speak to an advisor

Responsive Website Design has never been more important

Google is rolling out the new ‘mobile-first index’. This term won’t mean much to the general public, but it is important.

The ‘mobile-first index’ means Google will create and rank its search listings based on the mobile version of content, even for listings that are shown to desktop users. So if your website is not fully responsive you could take a hit in your SEO ranking.

What will this change?

More and more searches are happening on mobile devices, this is happing for many reasons. For example: – faster mobile internet connectivity, faster phones and just convenience.

Google wants its index and results to represent the majority of their users…who are mobile searchers.

Google have already begun testing this mobile-first index to some users. But it looks like we are still months away from this fully being rolled out. Google doesn’t provide a date as they are still doing tests with what they have already rolled out.

Why this matters to your business.

Google have already said that content that’s not deemed mobile friendly will not rank as well, this is all part of the new mobile-first index movement.

When we talk about ranking, this is referring to how ‘high’ you show up on google results for specific search terms.

What does all of this mean?

If you want to get the most out of your business website you need to have thought about how your site appears on mobile and tablet devices.

In todays market, people are using tablets and mobile devices to browse the internet more and more. Google want to make this experience as good as possible so will ‘rank’ sites with optimised mobile content higher than sites without it.
